One of my return pumps is acting up a bit and I`m thinking about replacing it. I now have the Rio 14HF. I`m thinking about going to the Mag 9.5. Sound OK or does anybody have a different idea.

The only thing I can say is watch your temp.  I believe they put out decent heat.

The mag pumps I have used havent been too bad. They put out a bit of heat but not much more then any other utility style, high output pump.

My tank runs about 76-77 so a little heat wont be that bad. I just hope my two overflows will handle the added flow. I am currently using two Rio 14HF and will change one to the Mag 12.

Well its been 2 days since I installed the Mag 12 and all seems to be going good. My overflows seem to be handling it. Temps are maybe up 1 degree if that.

Cool!  I may go that route with the Mag pumps, when I get mine.

This has been pretty helpful. I'm thinking of upgrading my Quiet One to a Mag. Thanks for the input.

Who would have thought a box of water could be so much fun?

My money has always been on the MAG pumps.  They are very reliable and with a little looking you can get them at pretty good prices.  I have a few from the little 3 up to the 12.  I also like the fact that they can be inline or submerged!
